Cocokind Product Review

Cocokind Product Review

It started out innocently enough. A place where I bought a mask and bath bomb for my sister’s Christmas gifts, cocokind, was launching a new face wash. Did I need face wash? Not really. Am I convinced somewhere out there is a better face wash, concealer, insert any makeup or beauty product? Yes.

So I went searching out new goodies to accompany my face wash; always on the hunt for free shipping. Lip balm with only two ingredients? Yes please. My fragrance phobic husband will love it. An exfoliating powder that boasts it won’t make your skin freak out or feel like you are scraping it off? Add to cart.

I don’t know why but sometimes it feels like changing your skin care routine will change your life; besides making things easier and having nicer skin. Looking at your products and deciding some tried and true staples in the beauty cabinet are there solely out of convenience not necessity.

Face wash is a hard one for me. Once I landed on my current favorite, Neutrogena naturals fresh cleansing + makeup remover, that doesn’t make me break out and gets rid of my makeup, almost nothing swayed me. Until cocokind slipped into my inbox. It promised me many things and for some reason I believed them. I think the real selling point was their acknowledgment on the website of yes, “it's an oil cleanser that you can actually wash off.”

I’m wary of oil cleansing because they always clog my pores, always. They feel great on and remove makeup but the breakouts keep me from returning. The cocokind oil to milk cleanser is like an oil cleansing and normal cleanser hybrid where the moisture is subtle but present. Unlike other oil cleansers that can feel heavy and immobile this was like layering squalane over my face in the shower.

A light layer of moisture replaced back into my skin. My skin was less red immediately after. My skin is very sensitive like a sulky teen. If I use anything too harsh or extreme in temperature she freaks out and turns red. Extra moisture and calming my face in the winter was exactly what I needed. Right before I ordered these products I saw in the forecast it was going to be unseasonably cold here. The timing to test out a moisturizing cleanser was almost too perfect.

I read reviews but with cautious optimism. Cocokind has glowing reviews for basically every product which can be good or bad. Are they all genuine? Only one way to find out. Gentle exfoliating is my jam. For too long I’ve used rough physical exfoliators which freaked out my skin while scrubbing everything away. When I switched to chemical exfoliators, mostly BHA, I was using them every night which was too much for my sensitive face.

Most weeks I only use a product with exfoliating properties one to two nights a week. The sea moss exfoliator is exactly what I needed when I first started on my skin care journey. Gentle exfoliation that doesn’t hurt but is still effective. It also only has three ingredients in case you care about brand and ingredient transparency. Tell everyone you know with a face about this, new to me, exfoliator.

I have had quite the odyssey trying to find a blush my skin doesn’t hate. First I dumped my go to blush last year when I realized this was causing my persistent cheek dry patches and changed my skincare routine. My new substitute, benefit benetint, started to rebel this winter. I needed a new blush alternative. Cocokind has one not filled with tons of weird ingredients, in stick form and could be used on my lips too. So much winning. I crossed my fingers it wouldn’t make me break out and ordered.

The macabeet tinted moisture stick has worked for me for the past week I’m happy to report. It works perfectly for me and my routine. I like being fairly low key most days with minimal makeup so the very light natural flush I get from macabeet is perfect. This product is very subtle so if you want a bright or shimmery blush this won’t work for you. It works great on my lips who are very finicky and like to be perpetually chapped.

This is how I’m able to look like a glowy goddess in winter, currently 30 degrees in Texas when experimenting this week, with cocokind. Also putting on moisturizers in the sauna like atmosphere of the bathroom after you shower but you already knew that, right?
