How to Incorporate Vintage Pieces into New Outfits for Fall

How to Incorporate Vintage Pieces into New Outfits for Fall

Sometimes all you need is some outfit inspiration and experimentation to transform vintage pieces into modern outfits for fall. Pinterest, which I recently rekindled my passion for, has proven to be a constant source of inspiration in style and outfit choices. This is what makes it so great and multifaceted. When I was wedding planning all I looked at and pinned were wedding related things. Now that I'm not planning a wedding again, in the foreseeable future, I'm not searching and salivating over puffy dresses my inner Scarlet would want to wear.

Instead I'm searching for outfit inspiration and daring style choices. Some will be incorporated into my look and others will be admired from afar. But the best part is there is always something new to find. While vintage is a great option for buying clothes sometimes you get stuck in a style rut. Pinterest is also a great tool to use pieces already in your wardrobe in unexpected and new outfits. Those jeans with that top? Genius. Below are a few examples how I would style vintage items that can already be found in your closet All you need is a vintage tee or two, blazer and a belt!

Dress up that old shirt.

Do you have a wonderful, comfy vintage tee but want to make something new with it besides the expected looks with skinny jeans and boots? Mixing dressier pieces with more casual ones is a great unexpected twist on an outfit that can go anywhere you want to take it. Elevate it with heels or wedges. Confuse and confound people by pairing it with sneakers. You will be the belle of the comfort ball!

Rock that shirt as a dress.

The rocker chick staple, a soft, worn out, possibly hole-y, oversized rock tee maybe stolen from your boyfriend or brother, gets an upgrade when paired with something new. Go for something completely different and put it over an oversized white button down long enough to be a dress. Add some pink pointy flats and you have an outfit that makes your old tee look fancy. You can up the rocker vibes if it's chilly with a leather jacket and some boots. This is a great tip in general when you want to switch up your outfits and styling. Pairing unexpected pieces together usually looks cool and interesting.

All black, not boring.

Belt a black blazer and add black flare jeans because denim loves a good blazer for a new twist on a classic look. Somehow fancy without being stuffy, comfortable and pulled together. Wear sexy lingerie underneath for added fun. You will be the best dressed at the steak house. Scrunch the sleeves to show that this blazer is for fashion purposes only.

Bonus outfit combo: Vintage tee + blazer

Combine these old wardrobe work horses to create something new. Remember there are no hard and fast fashion rules. Wear what you like and feel good in.
