Summer Essentials: Everlane Slides

Summer Essentials: Everlane Slides

My Dad loves to crank the AC when we are staying at a hotel because he doesn't have to pay extra for it to be constantly running. I've learned my Dad prefers to live in an indoor climate that supports igloos and freezes everyone elses fingers and toes. He also likes to show off how he can wear shorts all year except for when the temperature dips below freezing. Like my Dad's beloved and well worn shorts I've also found my summer essential for many summers to come; the new Everlane crossform sandals.

The most important summer essential for me is sandals. In Texas, you can wear them year round so making sure they are durable in addition to being fashionable is a must. I have been looking for slides that weren't mass produced, way too expensive or athletic since last summer. I wanted them to be sturdy, stable and black. Most only have a thick strap across the top below your toes and I was sure my feet would be slipping and sliding while trying to keep them on. I'm also partial to leather since this material holds up well under the changing Texas seasons.

When I saw Everlane was coming out with new sandals for summer I was all in. Everlane is a brand that I don't feel guilty about loving. They have a minimalist aesthetic, promote sustainable practices and transparency in their factories and in their fabric choices while still producing items that are wearable and fashionable.

The criss crossing straps caught my eye because they were different and would improve the chances of staying on my feet. They are made in Italy and you can tell they were made with an eye for details. Even though black is my go to color for shoes I might be tempted to try the other colors even though they are currently on back order. My second favorite was the oxblood or burgundy color.

They are very comfortable with a footbed that molds to the shape of your feet over time. I usually can't wear completely flat shoes with no arch support all day so these are great since they are supportive. They are easy to walk in and won't wear out your feet. I also like that they can be dressed up or down depending on the rest of your outfit. I can definitely see myself rocking these with shorts, pants or a dress. Versatility is a must for anything I add to my wardrobe.

I've been wearing these off and on for about a week or so and I still love them. I try not to wear the same shoes everyday so no single pair gets too worn out but these compliment most of my outfits and are becoming my go to. Being a creature of comfort these sandals blend in nicely with the rest of my pieces and no suffering is needed on behalf of my feet who say, thank you! Everlane delivers on sandals that are comfortable and pleasing to the eye which isn't always easy and I can't wait to try another color when they get restocked.

Because of the unpredictable May weather in Texas I got a chance to try them out in the rain and was worried the fickle weather might ruin my newest and greatest sandals. I know leather can handle some rain but didn't want to chance it, obviously. No worries because I wiped them off when I returned home after wading through the parking lot and they were fine. So if you are caught in a rain storm these sandals will survive.
