6 Labor Day Outfits for Outfit Planners: Part One
Part One: Go with the Flow-y Tops
Some outfits I've put together for Labor Day. Feel free to wear white after Labor Day too. Be a fashion rebel. Just like every adult that now toils at a job in the summer I am counting down the days to the last long weekend of summer: Labor Day. Since I also like to plan ahead I've already come up with a couple of outfits to choose from for the long weekend that are stylish and will keep me cool under the sweltering Texas sun. As for my plans I will be relaxing at the lake sipping a homemade margarita trying to not get bitten by mosquitoes. Most of these looks will be tailored for Texas where traditional hot August weather has returned in full force.
This look could double as a Fourth of July look next year and I won't tell anyone. Wear this outfit only if you want everyone to ask you where you got all three pieces. Then the smartest ones will sprint online to the Reformation sale, still going strong, and snatch up any items left in their size. It seems this year, linen is being used by many of my favorite sustainable brands from Reformation to Tradlands. This is one of my favorite fabrics for the summer since breathable fabrics are essential in the summer. I'm also a sucker for stripes and a high waist so these shorts were a no brainer for me. I enjoy adding a pop of color to outfits that are mellow in terms of color and these J Crew earrings are perfect for that. I usually don't like giant earrings but these are light weight and don't weigh down my ear lobes. They are fairly unique as far as hoops go.
Wanting to sneak some refinement into your outfit? This Reformation skirt is here for you. Go even more refined with mules or crazy, in a good way, with platforms. You can also unbutton a few buttons to make it more fun depending on your audience at the backyard BBQ. I can't stop making outfits with this skirt because I want any excuse to wear it. Even if that's at a get together where it might end up stained with condiments. This is the closest I can get to an all white look since I am still petrified of white colored bottoms and the inevitable stains that will emerge.
One of my favorite things to do with new pieces is mix and match so naturally I swapped out the white Reformation top with the American Rag one to see how it looked. Also awesome. You might be able to pull this look off this year in Texas because our August has been more like an April. This outfit is pleasantly over sized so you don't have to worry about eating or drinking to your hearts content. These shorts have great potential of being worn to bed and out and about for the foreseeable future. I'm not sure when I'll stop wearing them.
Check back next Friday for 3 more Labor Day outfits!
