3 More Summer to Fall Outfits
I want to cover my legs, finally, edition
While it doesn't feel like fall here, at least not yet, that doesn't stop NYFW, designers and brands from coming out with new pieces for the fall. While this is a perfect time to score some summer essentials at a discount, after Labor day sales anyone?, I'm going to show you how I style and transition my outfits when it's the cusp of fall.
Sweater and Shorts together at last
I couldn’t escape summer without rocking these Reformation striped shorts. They are seriously that good. With only a handful of days per year usually between winter to spring and summer to fall when you can rock this look without freezing or sweating when the weather agrees rock the outfit. In some parts of the country you might have already passed this golden time to wear this outfit. In Texas I have at least until October before I need to worry about that! These shorts are still my favorite for wearing on lazy Sundays or the whole weekend.
Flowy top with jeans
I've been on the hunt for black flare jeans since earlier this year. This pair fits great and is long enough for my legs which isn’t always a given. I can't wait to style these in a multitude of ways but my first look is with this white ruffle top from Reformation. This is great for if the weather gets a little cooler and you want to rock a fun summery top without your legs freezing. I paired this with a vintage beaded belt and Lucky wedges. I think flares are a universally flattering silhouette since they make everyone’s legs look longer and leaner. Bring back the flares!
Longer sleeves with skirts
Maybe you want to cover up your arms and still show a little leg? Pair a long sleeve top with your favorite summer skirt. This is perfect if it's not cool enough to wear leggings or tights under your skirt just yet. The deep V in this Reformation top makes sure that people know you are still ready to party even if they can't see the backs of your arms. Try not to twirl in this outfit. I can't.
Bonus outfit: Light sweater with jeans
If it's cool enough outside you can wear this look inspired by Laura Dern's character in Big Little Lies. I loved this show and gorged on it until there were no episodes left. I haven't owned flare jeans in a while because most of mine were in that super flattering light blue with low rise that made me feel like a hippie lost in time. When I saw these on the show I was like, yes flares can look chic! So began my epic fashion quest for black flares.
There was nothing to be found on the internet cheaper than 100 dollars or in my size. This was in the spring and summer 2017 season so I knew black jeans would be hard to find no matter what. I bided my time. When I had completely forgotten about my elusive black flares I found the perfect ones, on sale, at James Jeans by chance. Now I'm recreating the Renata Klein outfit with a Marc by Marc Jacobs sweater I scored from thredup. We are twins, no?
