Cold and Rainy Spring Outfits
Spring tricked me into thinking it would stay warm but as always Texas weather is predictably unpredictable. Here are some outfits to prepare for baby showers or literal showers.
The first outfit I wore for an impromptu baby shower wasn't the best. The event was spontaneously sprung on me so I had no choice but to wear what I had on. I salvaged my outfit situation by staying away from most of the baby shower festivities because I barely knew the mom to be, my now ex boyfriends cousin, and baby showers aren't that much fun when you are a young twenty something. So as one does at baby showers me, my current boyfriend, his cousin and his other cousins ex boyfriend, quite a motley crew, went upstairs to watch something with the opposite aesthetic of a baby shower; Braveheart. There was no logic in this decision but it always amuses me.
The best way to describe my outfit was adequately prepared to go to a grungy concert or anywhere without an unwritten dress code even though no one seemed to mind. I think they realized no one told me so I wasn't purposely dressed to annoy them or ruin anything. I wore a magenta long sleeve shirt with a black skull print all over it complete with pre cut thumb holes, dark wash skinny jeans or jeggings and black Converse with pink stars and more skulls on the shoelaces. This was my basic look from high school and bled into college.
Style, like all things in life, changes and grows with us. The only item I have left from this outfit from a decade ago (!) are the Converse because they always come in handy as a back up shoe. I have dipped my toe into more baby showers since then and have some outfits prepared for when the April showers reign supreme and the May flowers and warmth are nowhere to be found.
When it is going to pour but you still want to dress up.
I still love this Reformation dress and I'm trying to squeeze in a few more wears before the summer sun drenches us in sweat for 6 months. Thanks, Texas.
When the forecast says 20% chance of rain so you just wear the floral mules anyway because you are a daredevil.
This is pretty close to what I will be wearing for the upcoming baby shower I'm going to on Saturday. Minus the beer, probably. Fingers crossed for mimosas!
When you want to dress almost as gloomy as the weather.
All black outfits and black dominant outfits are my comfort zone. I hate to leave it but sometimes I know I must. I either get bored or feel like I look too predictable. But if you aren't bored with all black take this one for a spin.
