I have a love hate relationship with jewelry. I'm allergic to nickel which is in the majority of cheap jewelry. Just another thing to say to scare off potential suitors! In high school I didn't wear much jewelry even though I punched three holes in each ear and currently only one is still available for earrings.

Eventually I learned if you invest in some nice pieces, or receive some as gifts, they will last. Anything to prevent me from breaking out or getting the dreaded green ring of doom. I also lucked out and got some vintage jewelry from a jewelry box that my great Aunt Marie had. This means I basically know nothing about the origins of these pieces except that I like them.

Rings

My favorite ring is on the pointer finger of the hand mannequin. I usually wear this awesome Art Deco inspired silver ring daily, notable exception being my wedding day. I don't know why I like it so much besides the fact that it fits perfectly on my right pointer finger, it's not too heavy or cumbersome and I enjoy symmetry in design. It also goes with everything so I never feel like I need to take it off unless I need to wash my hands or clean it.

The rings on the thumb and middle finger are the real statement pieces. The turquoise ring with the feather barely fits on my thumb. The blue ring is adjustable up to a point so I can wear it on any finger.

Turquoise seems to be one of those materials that always comes back into style no matter what decade it is. I have several pieces now that I wear occasionally but I often keep them on my ring holder admiring them.

The last vintage ring is on the ring finger. Another turquoise ring but daintier I think it will only fit on my pinky. It has some great details like braiding pattern around the stone and two bands that meld together in the back.

The other two rings on the pinky aren't strictly vintage but I've had the spoon ring since elementary school so that's probably the oldest piece I own. The blue turquoise ring above it was my pseudo engagement ring for a time even though we didn't call it that. I would also wear it in lieu of my engagement ring if I was afraid I was going to lose it while traveling.

Necklaces

These are more great finds from the jewelry box. One is turquoise and the other I have no idea! It's a kind of orange or amber shade that sparkles in the sun. They are on the chunkier side and definitely make a statement so I don't wear them too often. But when I do they are show stoppers.

Just in time for the resurgence of the choker trend I unearthed the only choker I still have. This choker is beaded macrame from my mom's childhood which has held up pretty well. She made this when she was a Campfire Girl. I always keep it around for when I want to add something to an outfit.
