How to Style Everlane Denim

How to Style Everlane Denim

When Everlane announced they were doing denim pieces my brain exploded. Making denim is a process that usually involves polluting the environment so it was nice to see Everlane taking steps to avoid that in their denim manufacturing process. I have plenty of pairs of dark or black denim so I went out on a limb and got the Mid Blue wash in the High Rise Skinny. I feel like denim is a great neutral and can be styled endlessly. I challenged myself to only use clothes from sustainable brands to create these outfits. This is how I styled Everlane denim in two different ways.

These jeans are the quirky marriage of a skinny jean and a mom jean. All the best features of both styles are in these jeans. The denim feels partially broken in already, in a good way, while feeling substantial in a way that isn't always guaranteed in the jeans for sale today. With just a hint of stretch they will not remind you of skin tight jeggings choking your legs. The wash is great because it's light enough to mimic vintage jeans without the sizing tribulations. Denim sizing is a bit hit or miss for me, especially if I can't try it on, so I ordered my usual size and hoped for the best. The fit is true to size with that added hint of stretch keeping the denim comfortable with the true fabric feel of denim. The rise is definitely high as these cover my belly button.

Brunch Lover Outfit

I love this ruffle shirt recently plucked from the Reformation sale and will probably wear it until October at least, the true end of summer for Texans. It is so easy to keep making new outfits with it since white breathable shirts go with everything. The last time I wore ruffles as a serious fashion choice was in elementary school and I didn't care enough about clothes to pick out my own. Now I own two ruffle adorned tops. Times have changed.

Sustainable Canadian Tux

If you love denim and the idea of utilitarian jumpsuits this is a great way to channel both of these styles at once. This style pairing of Everlane denim on denim is reminiscent of Georgia O'Keeffe. I paired my favorite denim shirt from Grana with red earrings, a black belt and wedges. By some miracle the denim shades are basically a perfect match which is hard to do in the nebulous Mid Blue wash denim zone. I've been on the prowl for a jumpsuit from a sustainable brand so this is my denim substitute for now.

Have a great weekend!
