Pajama Dressing: Sleepwear as Daywear
How to wear PJ's all weekend or whenever you want without anyone noticing. A trend we can all get behind.
Inspired by a sea of fashion and style sources including Vogue's October issue, the innovative minds at Man Repeller with a dash of Pinterest. I was also inspired by the suiting looks I've seen on Pinterest and pajamas are the closest thing I have to a suit. Wearing pajamas outside of your bedroom is a trend that recirculates through the fashion cycle. Teenage me would have been intrigued and totally on board. The closest I came to emulating it then was wearing sweatpants.
My outfit examples below use a pajama set from True&Co which I couldn't find on their website anymore. I waited to invest in some real pajamas for awhile so these were a natural choice for me. They are navy blue, go with everything, and have fun accent piping in teal to keep it interesting. Not pictured but also a doable choice is wearing the pajama set together. There are many ways to do this but I would lean more towards lady of leisure with my INC floral mules and a trench coat on top. Even the people rolling their eyes at you, if you decide to leave the house, will be jealous when they realize you've figured out how to look chic and insanely comfortable.
I came up with two outfits for whichever persona you are on the weekend. I usually fall into the tomboy category but sometimes I dress up for no reason. You could switch up the shoes if you want the first outfit to look more polished or the second one look more casual.
I've always ridden the line between being a tomboy and more feminine, at least fashion wise, for as long as I can remember. I didn't hate dresses or skirts but preferred to wear them with sneakers instead of fancy shoes. I like jeans but didn't force myself to wear them every day, weather permitting. I also had the extreme privilege of parents that didn't really care what I wore or wouldn't tell me. So I've always found freedom in dressing how I please based on my mood and sometimes the weather. I once wore a long sleeve shirt in June or July just because I could. I was exercising my right to sweat as much as I wanted.

Most days when putting together outfits I mix and match pieces for something interesting or go for the familiar, pretend equestrian. But I had a vision inspired by Pinterest. I saw a girl wearing a long sleeve pajama top with flare jeans. I liked it and realized I could replicate that outfit with pieces in my closet.
I just bought these Vans sneakers which I had in red plaid, always mad for plaid, in high school. I got black and white for versatility sake this time. I didn't realize coming up with a tomboy chic look, incidentally so comfy I didn't feel like working, would be so easy and make me feel powerful. A bit of a cliche, I know, but that is the power of clothes. Some days it is really hard to feel comfortable and put together. For me this outfit did it.
